Ecrio Announces VISA Strategic Investment

ORLANDO, FL -- Mobile phone e-commerce software maker Ecrio announced a partnership and strategic investment by credit card company VISA.  Terms of the investment were not disclosed.

Ecrio is a developer of real time commerce and communications software for mobile phones.  It provides "interoperable and standard compliant software to mobile phone manufacturers and mobile operators."

The funding will allow the company to expand its offerings in two areas of mobile commerce:  near field communications and mobile barcode redemption, Ecrio's technology for beaming barcodes from mobile handsets to point-of-sale terminals.
